Logo and Packaging Design: Red Carpet Vector Illustration “VIP Pack” for PartyPOW!

For this fun assignment, PartyPOW! a new, all-natural energy supplement, tasked me with the design of their company logo and CI as well as several character designs and illustrations and also the packaging design itself.
The concept was to have a fun crowd waiting outside a happening club on the red carpet. The skyline of a big city in a nondescript country with an evening sky in the background. Everybody is in a good mood. The main character arrvives with his charming lady friends and the security guys recognize him immediately and let him through with a big smile. He is evidently a PartyPOW! party animal.
The illustration was created in SketchbookPro6 (roughs) and Adobe Illustrator CS5 for final vector art using a Cintiq21UX. A video about the making of this pack is also featured on the Wacom.com homepage, where I am a featured artist.
More packs will be added for special events and themes such as Spring Break, Snowboarding, Beach Parties etc. Hopefully after a while there will be a nice range of fun and original packages to collect.
Below are a few examples for character designs and line art illustrations that were developed for a comic strip for internal company publications. The style was to be clean and fun but also remain business like.
Clean line art, kept in black and white, with a few corporate spot colors. The story concepts would revolve around actual office themes and current projects, and sometimes also contain lighthearted tips and reminders.
Such custom designed spot illustrations can lighten up even rather dry copy and focus your attention on important passages. What’s more is that often the fee for a custom created series of illustrations is pretty much the same as what you would expect to pay for pre-existing stock art images. Except of course they look and feel custom tailored to your project and therefore elevate the production value considerably.

Café Poster – Cardboard Cutouts Vector Artwork in Adobe Illustrator
This was a fun illustration project to be used as a poster and also menu card cover and take-out menu cover for a restaurant / café.
The idea was to make it look like a children’s cardboard cutout game or an arts and crafts project. The artwork was created as 100% vector art in Adobe Illustrator CS5.

This was a highly interesting assignment.
Video: Layers and organization of vector artwork for the Packet Exterior.
Firstly the client required a unique logo for the product Party POW!
Secondly they also wanted an identifiable character, a figure head so to speak who embodies the product and can also be used in print and maybe animation at a later stage to convey stories and situations with the product.
Finally the packaging design inside and outside was to be executed in a clean illustrated style, with a storyline explaining the product in a non-verbal way. (Language independent for the European market)
Personally I am quite pleased with the solutions I was allowed to finalize and I am also very happy with the final printed outcome. I think the logo itself conveys power and energy and pops out very nicely.
The character design of the Party Pow man also reflects the product, which is all natural and is not a drug. Although it really does pep up your energy levels it does not hinder you from sleeping when the party is over and does not in any way cloud your mind or impair your senses. On the contrary it does exactly the opposite. Therefore we wanted ‘Mister PartyPOW’ to look fit, energized and like somebody who really likes to party but also takes good care of himself. He also appears to be somewhat popular with the ladies. No surprises there.
On the inside of the folding sleeve, once you remove the blister pack with the capsules, a recommended dosage and usage is displayed, again language-independent and non-verbal in a slightly tongue-in cheek way.
